Ann Smith

Kia Ora Whanau,

I am an experienced early childhood teacher who is passionate about working with our children and their families. I began teaching when our son was 3 years, relieving in our local community childcare centre, then I completed my teaching diploma while our 4 children were young.

I have taught in several centres and kindergartens in Stratford and Hawera, being a Kindergarten Head Teacher for over 7 years before starting at ICCC in 2013. I initially worked in the Kowhai Room with our toddlers, then at the beginning of 2017, I began teaching in the Rata Room with your delightful tamariki.

I grew up on a sheep and beef farm in the King Country with my two younger sisters, where we enjoyed living in a close community. My husband and I have lived in Stratford for many years, where our 4 adult children went to school. We have 7 beautiful grandchildren, who bring so much fun and love to our family. I am fortunate to share each day with 2 of our granddaughters, who also attend our centre.

In my leisure time, I enjoy sharing time with friends and family. I also love working in my garden, going to concerts, and participating in physical challenges and adventures.
